I have chosen Alive -1 springs and they recommended the Fox non reservoir dampers for my 100% on road these were recommended over the bilstein dampers I first thought I would be ordering
![]() These are all being fitted a week tomorrow very much looking forward to the lowered look and the improvement of the HT springs currently fitted. Hope this helps ![]() 2008 SVX 90 2000 XS TD5 90 |

They look great, Ive been looking at getting some. After speaking to more knowledgeable folks than myself, the general opinion was the adjustable shocks are the ones to go for but they must be set up properly to get the best out of them. |

Yeah you both are right and if I'm honest with myself it's not really if but when...
Trouble is my to-do list keeps changing as I get distracted by new shiny stuff. |

We tow regularly with our 130, 3.5T plant trailer and with or without load in the rear bed, we run the standard fox non-remote-res shocks all round on it.
The towing is fairly irrelevant. It's always 100-150Kg on the ball, which oscillates up and down due to road loadings so you get a cyclic loading up to say 300Kg. It's a contributor for sure, but it's more the overall load variation that causes the issue. Empty, they perform admirably, very smooth ride only hampered by the spring rate, but with softer springs they're outstanding shocks (also fitted to our 90). Loaded, they're under damped in low speed compression, so you tend to get wallow. We have had a number of shocks, they're all the same as they're rarely tuned for the heavier end of the axle load, and the "mid range" tuning tends to mean they're never masters of all trades. Our feedback would be to buy the adjustable low speed compression damping, that way you can adjust a few clicks up when under heavy load, and back down again for comfort when not. We are totally converted to Fox shocks, believing them to be outstanding. We have had one failure, due to the bolt that goes through the bush fatigue failing due to side loading through the bush. The design of the replacement parts we got has changed, so that shouldn't be a problem. But if you have had fox shocks for a while, the chances are you will have the same issue. make sure the lower shock nut isn't so tight that the bush is side loading the lower bolt (rear shocks). Micro cracks appear in the protruding thread and eventually they fail. To be honest that's good practice on any shock with pin through bush design, just that our issue came up on a fox part. |

I seldom tow but agree that unladen they're lovely. Also agree that my previously fitted 'heavy duty' springs were the weak link in my setup, far too hard for a light rear end. Switching to a lower spring rate (CSW white/green/green RKB500300 springs) resulted in a silky rear end with the standard Fox non remote reservoir shocks > 110 XS Double Cab |
