I think this is a myth. Split charging has been used in the caravan world for decades without issue and the batteries are never the same as the tow car. Darren

I agree with Anorak, my batteries are completely different and i've never had an issue with either.
I think a decent VSr is more important with the correct wiring and breaker in line between the 2 batteries. |

If you connect batteries perm in parallel they need to be identical size/ah. If connected via a vsr so they are disconnected when alt is not charging it doesn't matter on size discrepancies. Cheers
