Oooh I like that - simple but effective!

I posted old pics on mine by mistake. A few extra tweaks since:

Had to have top swing so that rules out the more blingy version with a big X on it!

The idea is for it to be good but subtle. That was the idea with the car - go for SE spec (low profile) but with Sports suspension and a fat engine under the bonnet. I hate "all show not much go" on anything from cars to bikes!

Don't know much about Rourkes stuff - assume it's all good?

Our Spesh list is a bit sad:

Me: Allez Elite 2010, 1997 Stumpjumper (steel) now used by my Dad, the Stumpy above.
The wife: 2008 Rockhopper disk with a load of new bits.

So FOUR of them - oh dear!

Resisted them for our 2 year olds balance bike and got an Islabike which he's really flying on now but I fear a Spesh may be ridden by him soon...! Defender 110XS SW gone... now VW California 180 4 Motion.

Thought some of you might like to have a look at my Stiffee. What can I say, I like to get it out every day and give it a good thrashing. Being a freerider it can take some abuse. Rolling Eyes

Is that a CX frame Greeni? Looks like canti lugs?
What kind of build are you planning?
(Enjoyed that programme on recently about a guy building his perfect road bike - he went for a custom Rourke - you watch it?)
I've got a Santa Cruz Nomad that I built up 3 years back, which is doing me nicely on the trails.
But I borrowed a road bike recently to do my first Triathlon (Blenheim) and really enjoyed it - now I'd like to add a suitably lightweight bike to my stable, and have been toying with either getting a road bike, or building up a lightweight CX frame at under 8kg, as it might be more versatile for a big guy like myself. I.e. stick some knobbly tyres on for training/fun, and slicks for race days...
Anyone know much about road v CX bikes who could advise?

Here's the pic of the bike, Rob Penn and me....and one of my old 90's !
