What Size Tyres
i,m going to put some BFG all terains on my 90 CSW its an 08 plate
What size ?

i had a T plate 300 TDI that had some very good sized BFG's on it. If i remember correctly most of the Later 300 TDI DEFENDERS came with these on ! what size were they ?

i dont want to go stupid on size, or have to modify the steering arms i just wamt to fit and forget.

Thanks DEFENDER XS CSW 08 TONGA GREEN

What is the biggest size you can go without fouling steering or anything? I was thinking about 255/85 16 on my 110

So to clarify the 255 is the width across the tyre in mm, the 85 is the percentage of height of the wheel/tyre diametre and the 16 means 16" wheel ?

There is a good chance you will have to adjust the bump stops. Other option is the 265/75/16 for a bit more width- are you looking at different wheels? or wheel spacers?

Running 275 / 70 / 16's on the Puma.. adjusted steering for lock, with 30mm spacers, just rubs the front radius arms.. hope that helps! 110 Tdci Double Cab

My brothers defender 50th has 265 /75/16 BFG all terrains on it as fitted as standard at the time.

Mine has 235/85/16 BFG all terrains.

Thanks Daz,

I believe mine were the same as the 50th in height & width

So am I right in thinking that ur tyres are not as wide as those on ur brothers vehicle ? DEFENDER XS CSW 08 TONGA GREEN

Thanks, interesting - not wanting to hi-jack the original thread Embarassed

So what is the biggest (tallest) tyre on 16" wheels can be fitted? is it 285/65 ? Without issues with stuff rubbing and fouling or is it best to stick with the 265/75 16 option.

I was thinking of boost copies with BFG All terrain or Cooper STT tyres.

Tyres
Hi,

I run 265/75-16 STT's on standard 'Boost' alloys with 30mm spacers fitted. No problem with clearance and look great!

Hope that helps!

Cheers, Rick

Hi chalky,

Yes mine are 30mm less wide.

265-235=30

I'm good at maths you know!

Thanks Daz,

Can i fit without spacers then or will i need these ?

Pretty sure my other 90 didnt have them but it probably had the stops altered when fitted at the factory ?

I have a pic of my old truck with said tyres im just a bit computer thick and cant up load it but if any body can do it for me i can mail u one ? DEFENDER XS CSW 08 TONGA GREEN

Purely aesthetically, I think MTs look much better a bit fatter than standard sized Defender rubber. For me 265s are perfect.

I do think though that ATs look just right with 235/85.

The real question is, however, white letters showing or hidden?
