2013 Defender 90 Puma 2.2 XS CSW Aintree Green

low power at low revs hose leak? no fault light (yet)

My 2.2 TDci has gone low on power when pulling away at low revs, OK otherwise. It also sounds different, possibly like there might be a leak in one of the air hoses but the engine mgmt light hasn't come on yet. Main dealer wants £180 an hour just to look / listen, I believe they used a smoke system to find the last leak (throttle body inlet), but anyway they can't look at it for another ten days.
Can anyone suggest an independent who might be able to provide an accurate diagnosis and maybe do the work? I am located in Midhurst West Sussex.

can't help you on an independent as I'm from up north, however i had exactly the same problem today. Whilst the hose was clearly suffering from a leak the fault light took some considerable time to come on and take me to limp mode. You can't mistake the rushing of air, mine came as low as 1,500 to 2,000 revs. Main dealer pricing is ridicules, I was going to fix the problem myself over the weekend, but my local indi quoted me £170 including part, so lazy boy had them fix it. `Good luck

Which of your hoses was leaking Nidge? I understand there is a choice of about 3 that may fail. 2.2 90 XS

The elbow on passenger side, small split. When I first heard the blowing I thought it would be the most common hose located drivers side near the steering link. Good luck

If intercooler hose was split it would be underpowered on boost, possible black smoke too depending how much the dpf collects. Cheers

At that sort of hourly rate it seems they are trying to recoup some of the losses L/R reported today. These appear to be write downs on bad decisions. Again
