Great! Let's take a vehicle that is often used for short, low-revving journeys and hamstring it with a DPF.

All DPFs fill up and require regen cycles, which is why modern diesels are no good for people who only drive around town. 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

Been doing some research on this. Seems different types of DPF "clean" in different ways. Some have a seperate tank for an additive which is added as needed to burn off the soot. Some require a blast of motorway driving to clear them. Some are disposable that need changing like your oil filter but they are expensive-£850 a unit. Volvo say on their DPF page that if you live in a town with lots of stop start driving or live on a small island you would be better off buying one of their petrol cars.Seems we get a six speed gearbox to cut down on the revs when cruising at high speed but the DPF needs high revs to clear it when it gets to 80% full.It appears all diesel engines will be fitted with a DPF in the future. Looks like we will have to learn to live with them. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

Its pathetic, they force you to have a device that is so called 'green' but to make it work properly you have to blast up the motorway for 30 minutes. 130's have feeling's as well you know
