Not sure on the current mot rules, but things have been tightenied up and no doubt will be again.
"Is the emissions control equipment in place and operational?" is a phrase that springs to mind.
Don't loose the bits if you do take it off!

Agreed. That's a fail if its missing factory fitted parts (I believe) Unless you have a sympathetic tester... Regards

I guess so. id say all the MOT's I have gone to, they are hot on stuff like that...

This MOT (due this year) will be through the garage I use, and they have a preferred tester. Regards

Personally I wouldn’t want to go running with a pipe joining my arse to my face. Due to that I’ve removed my EGR off my engine. Whistle Whistle

That's very true.. But don't a lot of people remove the engine cover permanently?? I have been told by a few to get shot of it, to help cool the engine... I declined politely Very Happy Regards

Do these have the same transfer gearing as the 300 and 200? I know the gearbox is the same as the 300. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

Gearbox is basically same as in R380,but bellhousing and input shaft are different. Think transfer ratios are the same as before with differences between 90/110 and discovery

What would lads say would be a good price for a decent one? I am getting mixed prices here. 16k is top whack for me. My 300 I paid 8.1k for her. Which was the best one out of the 5 i looked at. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

16k will get you an extremely tidy low milage td5. In fact that will get you a fairly tidy puma. Prices seem to be stable at the momemt but will fall slightly as we come out of winter Thumbs Up 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

I have been noticed a few early pumas, but I think the tax will hammer me sadly, I have seen some TD5s going for 18k which I think is a little questionable due to another one I saw which was 50k higher mileage wise. But it was just as tidy. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

I would buy purely on condition rather than milage (as long as full service history)

Puma tax on a hard top will be the same as a hard top Td5 or Tdi Thumbs Up 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon
