Not heard a thing about this one before.
I'm not sure about the headlights, but other than that there's a lot to like here:

Must agree, would have looked better if the headlamps were horizontal rather than vertical Defender 90XS SW

What a PITA to have spare wheel under the load. I can’t believe that spare tyre wheel well will remain dry, and like many pickups, very small load area.

I just don’t think they work for uk weather personally.

Apart from the front end which looks fugly & the interior styling I think that both the SUV & pick up are light years in front of anything JLR can offer. Don't know how long it's been in the development state but sounds like it'll be on the road before the new Defender. Can't help thinking too, when seeing the comparison shots of it against a FFRR, that JLR have really taken their eye off the ball - if they had that technology coupled with the styling of a FFRR, RRS &, dare I say it, the D5 I have to wonder whether they'd have been laying off 4,500 people like they announced yesterday?!

I am liking both the SUV and especially the pick up a lot! The front-end styling isn't to my taste but I suppose could grow on me, and when you're driving you won't see it. Overall the styling is less offensive to my eyes that the Disco 5.

I wonder how well the new Defender will be able to compete with a vehicle of this type. Could JLR manage to produce something this innovative and appealing?

One of my main criticisms of the EV sector until now has been the range, but 400 miles is actually becoming workable. I wonder how long it takes to charge?

I like the side step arrangement and full with locker on the pickup a lot, the roof bars that also fit the bed are cool too. I agree that the spare is not really ideal, but I guess it can't go underneath. If you were going somewhere where you really expected to need it, you could always put it in the bed and put some of the load in the wheel well. The spare location wouldn't stop me buying one.

I like the way the that the front light thingy doubles as a charging indicator. A lot of thought has gone into that vehicle.

If it lives up to the promotion in that video, it must be a game changer.

It makes JLR's thinking seem plodding, corporate and complacent - if not prehistoric.

All that emphasis on "style" rather than revolutionary forward thinking.

Why was that not developed in Solihull?!!! Twisted Evil

400 mile range is significantly more than a standard defender! Ugly as sin, but I imagine the looks are the easy bit to sort. When my puma engine dies I’ll be looking at batteries or an ls3, I wonder what will win!

I'd love for someone to come up with a battery 'engine ' that can be dropped into a defender.

Yes i know it's practically possible, but i can dream Very Happy

If it does everything in the video its phenomenal, yes the styling is a little off, but immensely practical. Seems miles ahead of anything I've seen. Will be watching with interest.

Can't help feeling the 400 mile range might be a bit of a stretch. So much further than anything else that size. James

Electric Classic Cars were talking about an electric conversion kit months ago but not heard any more info since.

Their RRC was supposed to have a range of 200 miles. But it's just and electric motor driving the standard drive train. I'd imagine the above motor on each wheel makes it so much smoother and more versatile. James
