I am on holiday currently, but at home working on the house and my truck..
Today I was tinting.. Removing the old and replacing with a darker tint. Click image to enlarge So the boot has the old tint the glass in the back has the new tint In this pic the back has the new tint and the boot has the old tint. Click image to enlarge I have also been a little naughty and put some medium tint on the front windows. Click image to enlarge It looks really dark in this pic, but from the inside it's quite light. Tomorrow will be spent doing the small side windows possibly... (as I don't have enough for the back door - and I'm worried that removing the tint will damage the heat strips further... Then I'll be trying to locate the water ingress into the driver footwell... Oh and I also added a poppy a couple of days ago in remembrance of those fallen for our freedom.

Today I am Well chuffed! I found the leak in the footwell.
I had to strip out the carpets and bulkhead liner thing, at first it didn't look like there was anything obvious, it all looked sealed... Got my wife to shine a torch into the engine bay in several places and no obvious holes... Click image to enlarge So I got the hose on it whilst my wife was looking in the foot well 'found it' she yelled, 'it's pouring through!' she exclaimed. So I went and had a look, she took over the hose and started showering the windscreen. The water was pouring through 2 holes above the accelerator pedal. Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge So I got some rtv Sealent that I had left over from when I added slickshift and plugged the holes with that. I'm currently waiting for it to dry so I can put all the liner and carpet back in.. So after checking my work I found that it was also leaking from behind the accelerator pedal too.
So I bunged a load of sealant under and around the bottom half, hit it with the heat gun for a little while, and then tried again with the water, this time nothing was getting through... Thankfully! Hopefully my mats will stay dry now. π Regards Adam Loving The Duchess The Defender 110 TD5 XS My Defender story - http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic64005.html Last edited by Adam17 on 10th Nov 2018 3:22pm. Oooh the postman's just been!!! Delivered me some goodies!
But... The lights don't look right? Are they correct for my truck, I drive a 2004 td5 xs... These bulbs are for the dash board. I watched a video on changing the lights and the bulbs the guy had looked different... Could have been an older truck mind you.. So before I strip my dash down are these the right bulbs? Click image to enlarge I also got some interior lights. Click image to enlarge And my snow cowl arrived.. Β£40 on amazon - which didn't arrive, then found on ebay for Β£22. Click image to enlarge Will upload pics when all fitted π Regards Adam Loving The Duchess The Defender 110 TD5 XS My Defender story - http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic64005.html |

So this morning I decided I was going to try and change the lights in the dash.. I couldn't wait lol.
Click image to enlarge But I can't seem to work how one changes the clock light? I did the fuel & temp gauge, my pliers were too fat for the speedo bulbs, so ill have to go and get some today.. I also changed the interior lights, and added my snow cowl. Been out and got my long nose pliers, lets hope they fit in the hole in the speedo to change the bulbs...
I also got some star shaped Allen keys to try and undo the clock to get to the bulb.. I did notice though, that I got 3 large bulbs left in the kit, I see that 2 go in the speedo - but don't reckon the 3rd large bulb goes in the clock does it? ill find out later.. Hi Adam,
I have done the same as you, replaced all of them except the clock, as I couldnβt find a bulb for it. Reading other sites they mention taking it apart. I used a pair of long tweezers for the speedo, fiddly and the bulbs kept breaking the tabs (but I think this was just cheap bulbs) I ended up buying some better quality ones in the end. Mad a big difference, much brighter. Good luck Wayne, 110XS CSW TD5. |

Thanks for the reply Wayne. I have a set of the star screw bits, but the adapter is too fat for the access holes at the back of the clock, so today I got some 'allen' star keys today, that will allow me to take the clock apart and see what bulb it takes.. But my kit only has 3 of the larger size bulbs(for the speedo)
We will see how it goes this evening. Ill update as and when. Regards Adam Loving The Duchess The Defender 110 TD5 XS My Defender story - http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic64005.html |

So got it all done....
Blew a fuse too, as this donut tried changing the polarity with the power on and connected the ends with my long nose pliers.. So changed the fuse out. I did manage to break a clip off the light, just aswell they sent a spare, must be a common issue.. I also pulled the clock right out, I saw 2 'clips' 1 either side, stuck a pair of tweezers down each one and did try to pry it apart.. It wasn't shifting, & I didn't want to break it.. So I put it back and left it alone.. Heres the final product. Still don't like the green clock... But no choice..
