Just an update on the job that we have been on for nearly 2 months
So we have finished the job  
This is just a few shots of what it was like before we started the big re-thatch, it needed doing as it was leaking in a few places ................................................ That looks great Clayton, impressive skils. We don't have much thatching up here these days, and certainly not as decorative or professional as that. Lovely job! Donald

Another good looking job, Clayton
If that was my house, and I kept spending on maintenance over the years to come, how long would I be expecting a new thatched roof like that to last? A new thatched roof really does look great. It’s transformed that property. |

The current owners have only been there a couple of year's and when they bought the cottage they knew that it needed a total re-thatch and that was reflected in the price they bought it for
The Water Reed that is on the main coat should last 20-25 years, but where this property is, i would say about 20 years ish and then the ridge should be renewed anywhere between 6-10 years. This cottage i have been lucky enough to have looked after it all my life, i found a bit of news paper tucked away and the date was 1982 i remember this job as the cottage had not been lived in for about 60 year's and then the owner's at the time, totally gutted it and put all new roof timber's were put on as i was learning the trade then and watching the builder's as well, it was all new to me at the time Clayton.
