Seeing as it's been 2.5months since the last post, i ought to entertain you with the next riveting instalment!
So...it's had:- in tank pump Injector loom Injector seals and washers Aux belt and tensioner Clutch kit Flywheel Slave cylinder 1 Swivel seal kit Front discs and pads Fuel pressure regulator Rear spring turrets 4 x rear springs and mounting plates Dynachip remap Dash bulbs Genuine Maf I am hoping the spending is near enough over as it's been quite a pricey resto job and I am also about 300hours into it But I think the effort and expense has been worthwhile - there is not a lot left to change on it now! The reason for the new rear springs was this:- Not a vast amount of soil had it on its knees! Previous owner did say the back end was a bit "soft", so i assume it was original springs. Click image to enlarge I was never overly happy with the rear spring turrets on the chassis and this gave me the excuse to weld some new ones on, which was actually pretty straightforward. They weren't rotten, just a bit scabby! Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Broken top coil rusted itself to turret Click image to enlarge Obligatory sheered bolt head...drivers side bolts came off with ease, passenger side both seized. welded a 12mm bar on and came out easily. Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge 6 nice big fillets per new turret Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Slightly less taxing job was changing a couple of dash bulbs... Click image to enlarge Aux belt and tensioner and the first new MAF i bought from a local motor factors. It's a Lucas boxed item, but is actually a useless resistor based MAF rather than hot wire - so it went straight back and a VDO siemens one ordered. Click image to enlarge Injectors out for seals.. Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Two mates 90s joined the remap session for a slightly reduced price:- Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Apart from using for a few hundred to check all is well, including some towing of materials back home for some landscaping, it's near enough ready to go up for sale. It's a bit too much value tied up for me at the moment - work has been quiet and i'd like to find a cheaper double cab of some sorts! |
