We had a pick up full of dogs. My two were in the box as the older bitch can be grouchy (can’t they all). 105 partridge, 7 dogs, no drama.
Click image to enlarge Here is the pup: Click image to enlarge She did really well, I didn’t ask much and she was nice and steady. The older dog made it abundantly clear how much work there is to do with the pup! I know they mature at different ages but the pup is 15 months and such a baby still. Patience is a virtue and all that. She will be a cracker in time. How did everyone else get on? |

Yep, I decided to take a pic mid unload. At the end of the day the wife and child of a gun asked if they could ride in the back as the little one had a landy fixation. All of three years old and already such good taste!! Something to do with a range of Landy books?

Really hot today, the hottest I've ever been beating.
The Guns were sweating and the dogs needed water all day. Beating in a shirt and trainers in mid October - mad! |

Hot and windy! Disappointing day as the birds were blasted around by the wind and the pheasant are not mature enough yet to battle against such force! Duck flew well though.
Click image to enlarge Our 2 (pictured with the Mrs) drank more water than I’ve ever known them to as well (normally won’t drink much unless they find a muddy puddle) and so we took them out of the last couple of drives to cool off (swimming in one of the ponds). |

Different scale of retrieving this weekend. Took a friend up to our little (1800 acres isn't much in the Highlands) plot of land. Bagged his first Scottish deer, first kill with his new Blaser, first 6.5x55, first red and first red stag. Dogs have been hyperactive when they realised we were going stalking.
Also did a water retrieve, i.e. Bunged it in a sled and floated it down the burn) saved dragging the 2 miles back to the car. Click image to enlarge Ed 82 Hotspur Sandringham 6x6 95 Defender 110 300Tdi |

Just back from our Sunday morning shoot up in launceston, Cornwall.
Excellent clay shooting, good facilities and really good grub. Highly recommend this to anyone down this area. On alternate Saturdays we go towards Plymouth to to Cart Ridge, another great Clay shoot. |

Out today picking up partridge. All went well with these two. Sadly the keepers spaniel managed to rip a flank- vet and £150 of stitches and antibiotics later and all ok. It makes you think about the £30 (or nothing) for picking up.
