My method was spraying with plus gas twice daily for a week. Then ran the engine for 15 mins before I tried to remove them, slowly and carefully. None snapped Instagram @defender_ventures

Might as well reseal that bung while the manifold is off, will save stripping again in the future to cure a coolant leak.

So , while I wait for me new cobalt drill bits and 8mm tap to arrive later this week , I thought i’d try an exhaust stud that had not snapped , put a nut on , welded it into place , left it to cool , sprayed some magic stuff and it snapped off , hardly any force to , so I just gonna spray , spray n spray . Don’t fancy drilling all the studs, but if u have to I’ll have too.

I found a useful thing to get snapped studs out was left-handed drill bits. With the drill in reverse they quite often catch and unscrew the stud whilst you are drilling it out. A couple did require a stud extractor but all came out ok in the end.
Word of warning - your local hardware shop will give you funny looks and ask if you want some tartan paint to go with the drill bits but they doe exist. Think mine came from ebay. 2005 Td5 110 Hardtop 1989 300Tdi 90 Soft top 1992 200Tdi 90 Truck cab with Land Cruiser axles |

All out except the two original snapped ones , they now have a 4mm hole drilled thru , I have a variety of drill bits on the way , including left hand ones . Got a 6.8mm bit coming and a brand new 8mm tap too , just in case

With the snapped ones, wind them in, then clean/tap the tread down to the stud, THEN wind them out. That’s how I found it best with the ones I’ve done.

Is that a dent in the oil filter and have you got a coolant leak from the top hose? puddle on the top of the water pump housing?

The oil filter is dented to match the panels and i’ve just changed and bled the cooling system , hence the puddle , but good news , they all out and all threads are clean , except the second in from right of the bottom row , the first five threads are stuffed. But I have plenty of thread past that , so i’ll Get a bolt for that one , next up , get everything off my disco 2 td5 and put on this one as that’s pre-warped and already skimmed
