Well September turned out to be a crazy month, but progress has been made none the less
Had to treat the old girl to a lot of shiny new things .... Must be due to the previous owner thinking that an unmolested model means one that did't require any maintainence This was the entire amount of oil I emptied out of entire vehicle and most of that was from us making him top it up from empty on the dipstick to drive it home Click image to enlarge First up set of shiny new stub axles, the old set had worn due to loose wheel bearings wearing ridges in them Click image to enlarge Rebushed, new shocks and springs too |

Acquired a bargin set of extended studs for the wolf rims Click image to enlarge On with the new discs and bearings.... Even the locknuts were knackered after countless tightening using a screwdriver instead of a socket Click image to enlarge Cheers Laurie 90 rebuild thread - https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic62909.html |

Nice progress but not surprised with the lack of maintenance on it Clayton.

Cheers Clayton & Procta .... I sort of hunted out an unloved knackered example, made it easier to chuck chunks into the weighing in pile and know I'll not have to keep sorting niggly jobs forever more
So both diffs rebuilt Click image to enlarge Calipers launched into scrap bin, pistons well and truely seized and resisted all know methods to free them off Click image to enlarge New calipers, dust shields and the back end is complete Click image to enlarge Next up front end Cheers Laurie 90 rebuild thread - https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic62909.html |

Looking good there, so much better as you can see it's loved at even this point of the build
I know this is a bit of a long shot, but what did you do with all the matting in the cab under-rover Clayton. 1996 Golf Blue 300Tdi 110 Pick up. Keeper. |

So now Iv'e got my bum in gear and sorted the pics, it's time for a quick update and fast forward through the front axle
This axle was in the same delightful state of repair as the rear and so the scrap pile grows New swivels, seals, bolts, gaskets fitted and races for the swivel bearings installed Click image to enlarge Swivel housings shimmed up, and seals fitted....The stop bolt and top bracket are the right way around now for the eagle eyed amongst you Click image to enlarge Stub axles replaced as they were on a par with the rears, worn through badly adjusted wheel bearings. One had destroyed itself internally too, with nothing left of the thrust washer or needle bearing. Click image to enlarge Hub intenals renewed and fresh discs fitted Click image to enlarge Calipers, again were in same state as the rears and unsalvagable Click image to enlarge Finally back up on 4 wheels Click image to enlarge Lastly for this quick post Panhard rod, steering box and associated linkages, dampers etc fitted and a new chassis loom dragged through Click image to enlarge That's all folks, well for now anyway Cheers Laurie 90 rebuild thread - https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic62909.html Last edited by under_rover on 14th Oct 2018 12:10pm. Just in case youve set them up and torqued them with the wrong figures, that’s not a railko bush- theyre the bearing type, Railko has the fibre washer disc
