Probably 48,but if I were you I would remove the wheel and count them. You should know what the landrover production line was like.

you don't need to remove the wheel to count. Pull off the centre pad and count the splines by feel with a screwdriver/paperclip/toothpick/whatever. You can do this with the nut still in place. Don't even need to be particularly accurate - if you count more than 36 then it's a 48 spline!

10 mins ago, before I read this, I just ordered a Optimill steering wheel boss... 48 spline.
Having seen this post, just checked, and mine (2011) is actually 48-spline. I know all later Pumas like ours are supposed to be 48...Best to check tho (as hank says) I guess... It literally takes less than a minute to remove the wheel... Best to check...
Only advice is leave the nut on a few turns before you 'shock' the wheel off so it doesn't come flying toward your face ![]() Then: 2004 2.5 TD5 90 Hard Top (X-Tech Edition) |

I have been crawling the internet all week to find the answer to this question for my 2007 90, I had convinced myself without doubt that it was 48 then read a few things this morning that have changed my mind! So I have no clue now. haha.
So... using the excellent advice from you fellas on here... I am going to bump the wheel off and count them! I'll let you know my findings. |

There are also different spline thicknesses, which I found out the hard way. My 2009 48 is “thicker” than a 48 for an earlier Defender.

Finally got around to counting the splines, my 2007 90 Station Wagon is 36 splines if it helps anyone in the future as a guide but I do echo the comments above. You can just loosen the nut enough to see them, get a pin and click around the splines to count. This is very easy and well worth doing.
