winterisation
So i walked outside at 5 this morning and nearly ended up with a nobsickle. And with Potentially 4 months of snow "When it snows in the sahara", and the coldest winter on record Expected by those that hold stock in hearsay.

I knew the day would come, so a few weeks ago i topped up the OAT from dry as a bone (how i didn't overheat doing 25 mile stints in 30 degree heat i'll never know).

So this will be my first winter (from the start) with lucinda and wondered whats entailed in the winterisation process?

✓ So topped up the OAT
✓ Tyres Still at winter pressures (lazy)
Snow cowls worth their money?
What about diesel fuel additives?
To check Heater now that the coolant is full.
Figure out what the heated seats are doing
Fix the Fluid squirter (no not that you dirty old gits)

Luckily My heated windscreen still works...

So jealous of your heated screen Laughing Laughing

Get a new expansion tank cap, looks like you have had leakage at some point.

Diesel fuel additives won't be required unless you're using so little you haven't filled up since the summer.

They're added in automatically by the fuel companies about this time of year. Ed

How old is the battery? Worth checking it out before the really cold weather comes Neutral

Diesel should be OK to around minus 10 C without additives (i.e. as it comes from the pump). So unlikely a problem in England.

A couple of years ago in Scotland (Aviemore) it was around minus 16c for a few days. My TD5 Disco2 started, but the pump was whining noisily. Defender "Puma" 2.4 110 County Utility (possibly the last of the 2.4's)

A bag with warm clothes thrown in the back.

You never know when you might need it, or come across someone else who might.

I use silver heating tape to seal up the drafts. Usually seal under the flaps on the bulkhead, any panels I've had up like above the transfer box, and any where that is leaking on the heater.

When it gets really bad I fit a rad muff. 2014 - current ..... 2003 defender td5 90 (my car)
