its the not that could be a problem when miles from home in the rain, have kept the original relay in the cubby box just in case. DEFENDER 90 TDCI XS,

Prepare to be disappointed chaps.. The two I got from Ebay (see above) were standard intermittent relays.. No variable time function at all.... Still, will be useful as spares.. Big Cry ... ,-------,

It's a straight swap mate. Just plugs straight back into the connector no fiddly connection of individual wires.

Relays in the td5 are behind the instrument panel - (4 screws). As previously mentioned you can identify which relay to swap just by putting on the wipers and feeling each relay for the 'click'. I just noted the orientation of the terminals on the relay I took out so that I could offer in the new one in the correct way to begin with. Jon - 110 td5 [sold]. Currently Defenderless.

Done, it was a POP -hardest bit was disconnecting the original relay.
Also found a useful switch hole blanked that I didnt even know existed underneath - luckily I have an old style switch that fitted perfectly there.. hmm.. what shall i use it for? 2005 TD5 90 Hard Top

Ditto, me too, seems the part number list was wrong after all Big Cry - perhaps someone could edit it so some other poor sod does not end up with a 'spare' relay that as far as I can see, never wears out Sad

If it helps at all, I just bought the VW '99' relay off ebay. I simply did this as other chaps had posted pics of their success so I didn't bother looking for comparative relays through part number etc etc.

Here's an example.....

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VW-Audi-Seat-Skod-No...41555106ee

They seem to have gone up a bit in price since I bought mine... think I paid about a tenner for it Jan/Feb time, then forgot to fit it until this post surfaced again Smile

Slight downside is that despite being a '99' it didn't come with a flake Sad Jon - 110 td5 [sold]. Currently Defenderless.

Indeed... standard intermittent, however the interval seems a fair bit longer than the original one.

Anyone else's come apart when they tried to get it out? It seems that my relay didn't have the cap secured to the base.
