Hi Stefan,

You can say that. I had not seen your message about Smith's enquiry yesterday evening, Stefan, sorry for that. How are we going to organize this? Stefan, do yoy want and can you order for me, if I pay you in advance. To send to the Netherlands will not be the problem, I guess ?

I keep me recommended in this.

Cheers GerardTd5

Bargain indeed, strangely though, I've still not had a reply to my enquiry, but if that price is available to all I'll be getting an order in straight away Thumbs Up

I just got a reply from CAI (Smiths) this morning, the same price as above, less than half what LR are charging for the exact same part.
Getting one on order right now Thumbs Up Mr. Green

Everyone should post pics when they've done it to show off their revvy goodness. I bet they're like why have we had an influx of small orders in the last week.

Very good find and compared to LR price a bargain. I thought before ordering one I would just make sure it was the same as LR's and it is. The image is taken from Smith's website

My new tacho arrived this afternoon so I got straight on with it, all pretty straightforward really.

With the instrument binnacle out, I removed the clock and moved the Temp and Fuel gauges across one place to allow the tacho to sit next to the speedo, conveniently, all the connections needed, apart from the ECU speed signal, are available within the binnacle wiring loom, better still, after unwrapping some of the tape holding the loom together, there are some taped-up splices where I was able to solder the green, black and red/white wires directly into the relevant connections in the loom.

I left the original connector for the clock in the loom. Also there are two extra wires in the plug from the tacho, a red and a red/blue, I've no idea what they're for so I just taped them up.

The biggest chore was getting the supplied white/black wire from the ECU up to the dash, fortunately, there are some extra blanked-off small holes in the grommet leading out of the seat box next to the chassis rail. To provide some mechanical protection to the wire, once through the grommet, I threaded it through a length of 6mm plastic airline tubing, cable tied it to some existing conduit on top of the chassis and brought it up into the engine bay and through the bulkhead grommet next to the heater control cable, this brought it in directly behind the binnacle.

It's also worth noting that, in respect of the ECU connections, the instructions state that on pre-2002 vehicles, pin 19 is connected to the ABS module and needs to be spliced into, on post-2002 cars pin 19 is not connected, mine is 2004 but has ABS so the connection from pin 19 is used. It's no big deal but could cause confusion.

Anyway, all done and dusted now and working perfectly with the wiring as above, another job done Thumbs Up

Rear of binnacle, tacho fitted and wiring tidied up.
