"Kangaroo" impression from cold (2.2 2014)
Hi Folks,

Ever since it was new, my 2014 2.2 110 van has had a bit of a moment when starting off from cold. For the first quarter of a mile or so, it will suddenly start to 'kangaroo' (run very unevenly, sorry, it's the best description I can think of) once I change into third. I'm not labouring the engine or changing up too early.

As soon as there's a bit of heat in the engine, it's fine, and it only ever happens from cold. It seems to be getting a bit worse at the moment.

I should have asked the dealer about it while it was still under warranty, but of course by the time I got there, it was fine and I always forgot.

In the good old days, I'd have thought it was a bit of cack in the carb (or something), but I imagine it now needs some 'electronic attention'.

Is this a known problem, and if so, is there a solution please?

Thanks for any help.

..but it shouldn’t be there. Mine (2014 2.2) doesn’t do it, or rather it only does it very very infrequently. Perhaps 5 times in 60k?

Are you sure your servicing and maintenance is up to date? No fault codes logged? 2014 Keswick Utility 2.2

Thanks folks. It's been serviced annually, initially by Land Rover and now by my local garage. I'll have a chat with them about fault codes and see if they can help.

I must admit I have been considering a re-map, but my insurance is (relatively) so cheap, I don't want to end up paying out a load more for it.

When I used to get kangerooing it was at anytime, not just when cold. It used to just be when going fast in 1st then lifting off the power.

Remap transforms the drive, got rid of 95% of kangerooing, and only added £30 to insurance. Highly recommend. James

Dragging my old thread back up, I've got the BAS 170 remap, and it initially got rid of the problem (please see post 1), but for some reason, it's now coming back, as originally, only from cold and only for a minute or two.

Can anyone offer any suggestions as to what to check please? There are no fault codes logged.

The engine management adapts itsself i.e. the CPU is capable of learning and changing the paramètres within a certain range.

Hi,

I had the same thing (Puma 2.4), that has improved after the BAS mapping, it is now barely noticeable.

As I mentioned above, it improved after the BAS 170 remap but has now come back.

Does anyone have any information about what causes it in the first place please?
