Try changing the cap, known for leaking.

Investigation into the limp mode needs to be looked at as that’s not normal for water loss.
Get it plugged in will probably be your best bet. |

Thanks for the responses.
I'm sure it is going into limp mode because the engine is over heating as it is fine once you top up the expansion tank. From what I read the engine does this to stop it from serious over heating. I'll try a new cap, but it doesn't show any signs of water loss around it. I can't understand why the cab is getting so hot through the air conditioning as it has had a new condenser and regas not long ago. |

You’ve two options really here pressurise the system with a tester and look for leaks or a do a “sniff” test to check for a combustion leak. Is the water pump functioning?
Your air con system and “straight” engine are different systems. Although maybe if you’ve had work done on the air con they’ve disturbed a radiator hose or sensor near the condenser- again a pressure tester may produce a leak. |
