Not sure if you are TD5 or TDCi but we had a lot of problems with intercooler pipes and intercoolers splitting on a fleet of TDCis. The latter used to separate between the plastic end tank and the main core.

Also worth checking that no rubber grommets have been dislodged in the footwell resulting in more noise being apparent. Not sure on TDCi bulkheads but the rubber grommet in the passenger footwell for the A/C pipes can let a lot of noise through if dislodged.

Check boost on diagnosticsor boost gauge. Should be roughly 14psi if it hasnt been messed with. Check if any of your boost hoses have oil residue around them anywhere. If so clean them up and check after a few drives Instagram @defender_ventures Empire Tuning - Agent |

I had a similar problem on my Td5 last year, it was making an increasingly loud hiss from the front while giving it full beans, especially uphill.
I suspected either intercooler or hoses but there was nothing visually obvious and since it was only hissing while driving, I decided the best way to diagnose it while stationary was to pressurise the intake system. I removed the pipe from air filter box to the turbo inlet and found a plastic pot which was a snug fit over the turbo inlet, I drilled a hole in the bottom of the pot and fitted an air hose fitting which I was able to connect to my compressor and apply about 15PSI. Lo and behold it was the intercooler which had split along one of its seams, it was partly hidden from view by the air-con condenser but immediately obvious where the noise was coming from. If you floor it going up a hill, do you get lots of black smoke out the exhaust?
This would also usually point to a split hose |

Of course. Though you seem to slag em off anytime you can as if they where Britpart!
Like I said dude look for oil residue around the IC or hoses, bit tell tale of a boost leak. Instagram @defender_ventures Empire Tuning - Agent |

I couldn't say to be honest, it was on the 90 when I bought it 3 years ago, the only clue might be that it was re-mapped by td5alive.com, now known as Alivetuning.com. maybe they supplied Alisport ones back then - or maybe not? |

I’ve received better quality parts from britpart in the past than the part I bought from allisport so what do you expect? Ray My build thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic17615.html |
