There are already 4 cooling fans so I think that's probably enough! The air con system fans turn on for extra cooling and there are twin Kenlowe fans which are in place of the standard viscous unit.
All of these work fine, it's just the ECU that isn't (or wasn't) seeing the correct temperature. It's all ok now, idling at about 700rpm 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon 1990 Vogue SE Triumph Tiger Explorer 1200 Td5 90 Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic50767.html Tdi 110 Thread https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic69562.html RRC Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic54492.html Instagram http://www.instagram.com/george_grafton |

Cheers Keith. If I can clear the ABS fault in the next couple of days then I'll be getting an MOT very soon indeed!
It can't be long until someone comes up with new rear window rubbers, I think every 4 door classic needs them don't they?! Yours looks lovely. I hope mine will look that smart when it's done 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon 1990 Vogue SE Triumph Tiger Explorer 1200 Td5 90 Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic50767.html Tdi 110 Thread https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic69562.html RRC Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic54492.html Instagram http://www.instagram.com/george_grafton |

Ok, I'm getting towards the end of my tether with the ABS now!
I have solved the one persistent code I was getting which was 2-8 valve solenoid open circuit. This turned out to be a faulty relay which had a healthy click but wasn't making contact. Anyway with this sorted you can drive around and get no fault codes but the light isn't going out. The light relay is ok as I have swapped that for a few different relays with non of them making a difference. It must be the ECU leaving the light on as when you put a jumper wire in the diagnostic port it begins to flash but no giving any codes. This rules out a wiring fault causing the light to come on. The diagnostic procedure involves removing the ABS light relay but I don't have to do this to make the light flash it's blink codes. Does anyone have any ideas? No garages around by me are able to interrogate the ECU as it's such an old sytem This is the only thing now stopping me getting an MOT! 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon 1990 Vogue SE Triumph Tiger Explorer 1200 Td5 90 Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic50767.html Tdi 110 Thread https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic69562.html RRC Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic54492.html Instagram http://www.instagram.com/george_grafton |

Are you able to borrow an ECU and swap that out to see if it solves the problem?

Forgot to mention that. The ECU from the donor range rover behaves exactly the same 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

It might be worth trying a third ECU if you have access to one. You could spend a lot of time chasing an error in a place it isn’t going to be found!
I hope you get it sorted out quickly. |

The thing that makes me doubt it's the ECU is that both vehicles had fully functional ABS before the rebuild. But, as you say, trying a third ECU would be well worth a try.
Anyone close to Woolacombe with an ABS equipped Range Rover Classic? 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon 1990 Vogue SE Triumph Tiger Explorer 1200 Td5 90 Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic50767.html Tdi 110 Thread https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic69562.html RRC Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic54492.html Instagram http://www.instagram.com/george_grafton |
