Busy day today. Out of the shed came an ex military bumper which I thought I would have a go at refurbing and fitting to my usw.

I then moved the XS bits over Click image to enlargebump2 by Richard Holmes, on Flickr Finally fitted to the LR. Bit of a fight with the 4 fixing bolts but all done. Pleased with the result Click image to enlargeInkedbump3_LI by Richard Holmes, on Flickr 1984 One-Ten CSW 2010 XS USW (sold) 1957 Series One 88 diesel 1958 Series One 88 4x2 Last edited by seriesonenut on 3rd Jun 2018 9:10pm. Just be aware that those bumpers were replaced in military use with one that was boxed in behind the tow pin. It is not a strong bumper, OK for gentle towing, but not for recovery if stuck off road etc. Be warned. 80" 1948 Lightweight V8 Bowler Tomcat 130 Station wagon 90 300tdi (Santana PS10 pick up) Range Rover L322 (Ful fat) |

Ok thanks. This one has more strengthening plates welded into it and appears to be more solid than the one just taken off. Galvanised finish as well.
I have jate rings fitted which would be my first choice for recovery. I do have a shunting bar which I have used in the past which worked well with this type of bumper and nato tow hitch. 1984 One-Ten CSW 2010 XS USW (sold) 1957 Series One 88 diesel 1958 Series One 88 4x2 |
