I was going to say I have one but I wouldn't sell it. Then I realised it's now a USW with a seat of seats from an L322, pegged Ashlocker front and rear, winch and raised intake. So doesn't fit your bill, but it is Alpine White with (faded) stickers...
Good luck Ed 82 Hotspur Sandringham 6x6 95 Defender 110 300Tdi |

Hi all, I came across the following vehicle and would appreciate your comments on the following please:
(1) Is it straightforward to fit an aircon on a 300tdi? Can you recommend a workshop that can do this near Guildford/West Sussex please? noticed that the rivets along the side and back are of a different size to the factory fitted ones on my other Defender 110 (2) What would be the most likely reason for someone to change the rivets along the side and rear of the vehicle on both sides? Could it be that a previous owner may have drilled them out and replaced to pre-empt rust? or perhaps a more serious damage? How would I check for more serious damage? (3) Is it relatively easy to get these oversized rivets removed, and have them replaced with the original sized rivets? (4) May I know where to get the build specs of this vehicle if I have the Registration# and Chassis#? i.e. I want to get details such as the original paint code, original engine# of the vehicle etc. Topix did not give me this info (5) As attached, when I enter the chassis number under Topix there are 'Outstanding Campaigns' and 'Activity Stream' - May I know if these are alerts for the model or for this specific vehicle please? Many thanks, APK Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge |

Probably had some paint work and/or replaced the Cappings on the tub. Yes you could remove them and replace with the proper closed head rivets if you wanted, as long as the holes aren’t massive underneath the big rivets.
Land Rover air-con of this era? Surely just open the vent flaps? yes you could retrofit it, the standard factory aircon takes up the space at you knees and isn’t great. |

The rivets tend to look big and fat when they’ve been sanded down and painted over. It’s easy enough to replace them that you have to wonder why someone would just sand them.

NickMc, JimC, thank you for your comments. Went through the online MOT history, a 2013 entry mentions:
"Reason(s) for failure ... Nearside Rear Vehicle structure has excessive corrosion, seriously affecting its strength within 30cm of the body mountings (6.1.B.2) Offside Rear Vehicle structure has excessive corrosion, seriously affecting its strength within 30cm of the body mountings (6.1.B.2) Rear Vehicle structure excessively corroded within 30cm of towbar mounting (6.6.6)" Different sized rivets were probably a result of fixing above. Thanks again |

That sounds like the rear crossmember possibly. Check there’s a row of spot welds and it’s not had the sides and rear light panels glued on. People even fake the spot welds- seen it in filler and with a round head punch to fake them. Check along the edge were the wheel housing meets the outer tub sides? it’s rare to find something that age now that hasn’t had some “love” over the years.

Oh and the bit you’ve circled in the last post is for holding the bottom door seal in/ carpet down part no AFP710120 Replace the seal at the same time. Aftermarket versions don’t last as long in my opinion, my guess is cheaper steel, cheaper galvanising, someone does a stainless steel version I think maybe YRM?

Very nice. I do like a white 110. Just needs white wheels to match (IMHO, of course ). Darren
