Difference between ABS and non-ABS axles
Hello, quite a specific one for you today...

There is only one part number listed for front driveshaft assemblies; TDB500280 (RHS) and TDB500290 (LHS)

Some research suggests these are suitable for both ABS and non-ABS models. Having seen a shaft, the ABS reluctor ring is machined into the shaft which suggests the ABS reluctor ring must be present in non-ABS axles and is just not used/sensed on non ABS models.

So is it reasonable to assume that a non-ABS axle can be converted to an ABS axle by simply fitting an ABS upper swivel king pin (the type with the hole for the ABS sensor) and an ABS sensor?

Without abs CV's are stronger.

Yep td5, but are they different except for the abs? My td5 doesn't have abs so I don't need the cut outs.

My experiences:

ABS CV:

Non ABS CV:

With the none ABS only the internal break.

But now I have Aschroft front and rear. Yep it is an investment, but if they give 5 year waranty with 35" tyres that I use I am sure they will be OK. Roel

Further to this, I removed the upper king pins from a Puma axle to find non-ABS shafts...

So don't assume all Puma axles have ABS type shafts!
