Thanks for the replies. I really thought it was more of an engine related sound. I'll check the downpipe fittings. The clutch plate tightening is a way bigger problem. Is there a way to confirm it is the clutch plate, other than doing it?

Ahhh it's difficult because there's a few things it could be. Few other things to check are weeping injectors and rattling turbo heat shield!

Have a quick look on google for “LUK clutch failure diagnosis” if not and it has all the tests in a PDF you can do to narrow down a clutch fault. I’m not sure if you can access their repxpert site if you’re not in the motor trade though sorry.

If it is piston noise, it can be the vcv valve

Hi All,
I thought I just add this note in case anyone ever runs into this problem, albeit unlikely. I'm ashamed to say that the cause of this problem seems to stem from my overfilling with oil, on the last oil-change. I changed the oil again last night and the rattle has all but disappeared now. I hope I haven't caused any permanent damage. Sorry for wasting your time.... |
