Going to be having Aircon fitted in May, to a 2.4 Puma, and I was wondering about output/cold.
I seem to remember (but cannot find) a post which implied that the condenser on AC can be adjusted, is this case or is it a case of one temp fits all? Perhaps LR tuned down to improve mileage. If it can be 'turned up' for extra cooling, does anyone know how and where, or shall I just ask the mechanic? Also, I'll be having a BAS Intercooler fitted at the same time, does this have any impact. I ask, as the Aircon on my 2.2 was OK, but didn't really cope in Italy or on the M-Way. Don't get me wrong, better than 36c heat, but not perfect. If I have the chance to adjust during fitting to get the best out of the unit, even if I lose a couple of MPG, I'd Ben keen to do so. Thoughts please? Monsieur Le Grenadier I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list..... 2011 Puma 110DC - Corris Grey |

Do you mind if I ask you how much it costs to retrofit? (don't worry if you don't want to say)

I've read about people putting a heat shield above the gearbox and props etc, to reduce the heat in the floor area (I have it on my Audi RS4 as standard, preformed heat shield that runs from front to back)

Hello Rich, no issues, happy to tell you how much but it will have to wait until after fitting. The kit was from Devon 4x4, but someone 'owed me' (Not in a gangster sense), so I said he could buy me the kit instead. £2000 approx. Also, for some reason I already have the bull nose, so money saved there, but apparently this kit, even though a like for like with OEM apparently doesn't need the nose. Not sure how it can be identical, yet not . Will let you know how much, how long and how good when done.
Familymad and Rich, I will be putting in extensive sound proofing (Silent Coat, Sound Deadener and carpet) all around the transmission tunnel, seat boxes, foot boxes etc to try and reduce heat as much as possible. Will let you know if effective. Monsieur Le Grenadier I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list..... 2011 Puma 110DC - Corris Grey |

I've just bought the kit as well, sitting in my garage at the moment. I'll be fitting it myself as soon as the weather improves.

Don't let it sit too long, or else the weather will improve and you'll bake. Like I did last summer. Kit has been in my barn for at least a year!! Never quite got round to it!! Good weather = cycle, or beer, or walk, or BBQ, or meet up with friends, or go on hols, or all of the above Monsieur Le Grenadier

Would a bigger intercooler help reduce engine heat so improve aircon performance? James

The cubby box on mine used to get hot inside. I just put some of that foil covered sound deadening on the underside of the metal plate it fits to, cubby stays nice and cool now. It should only be the tunnel and rear floor that gets warm, just sticking some foil on the underside of that general area would do it. Doesn't have to completely cover it, just the bulk of it. It's also worth checking the foam seal around the plastic gearbox tunnel, if it's not sealing properly it'll blow hot air in (as well as noise. |

Haha, yea, better not leave it sit too long.
I would have had time this week but it's going in to have corrosion fixed. Hope they don't give me a @£$% Honda again! |

Ok, AC fitted, just need to gas it.
Took me 2 full days, I'm just an enthusiast and not a mechanic. The entire dash has to come out and by that I mean you strip it down to the bulkhead. It's a pretty big job. The instructions are very helpful but they do assume you are a professional mechanic. A single line of instructions can correspond to several pages of work in Rave. Roll on the hot weather! |

Probably not, as the condenser is forward of the intercooler. Check your heater valve isn't knackered too, just replaced mine with a new one and the AC is far more effective. Basically the valves fail partially open and let hot water through the heater, the the AC is having the fight the heater to cool the cabin. |
