DRL Lights
Hi guys, I have been looking for ages at which way to go in terms of adding day time running lights into a LR bumper that I would modify myself.

My question is therefore what make and model LED DRL's are people using? Who prefers rectangular or circular? I am swaying towards rectangular!

Any advice appreciated.

Its a personal thing ... I have round lights on the 110 as they match the round headlights and side lights .. there is no hard fast rule ...

Mine came from a comanpy no longer trading and had them on my previous 110 for a few years - you can pick them up off Ebay for about £20 the pair .. which is a lot less than I paid!

Personal preference but my OCD tells me round headlights, round position lights, round indicators so round DRL's. Defender 90XS SW

With DRL's I tend to think less is more.

I saw a Porsche today with 4 single DRL's around the halos in each headlight and then 2 larger oblong ones in the front bumper. It was so tacky. It looked like a house in Essex at Christmas.

Well less is definitely more.

Legally only allowed 2 DRL's on the front of a vehicle.

Note this is DRL units and not individual light sources in a DRL unit.

DRL's also need an approval mark. This consists of the light function code RL, Country code (E + number in circle) plus the actual approval number.

I'd like to see that galv drl bumper on a Defender. I like the blend of old style with a twist of new. James

This subject came up the other day Brendan.

How do Renault stand with the new Alpine?

I didn't know that.

I have to say the 911 looked factory to me. Are Porsche knocking out cars with illegal lighting?

Read what Brendan wrote again, "Note this is DRL units and not individual light sources in a DRL unit". The Porsches have 4 LEDs housed in each headlight unit therefore only 2 units and hence legal Thumbs Up Matt.
