That is the correct way to jump start a vehicle from another ........ too many people think you simply connect the leads and crank away Rolling Eyes Guns and Landrovers .... anything else is irrelevant.

Well it depends how flat the battery is on the failed vehicle. If it's turning over but sluggish then you can normally just connect and crank away. If it's totally flat it'll need the rescue vehicle to charge it for a bit.
