locked out
Opened the landy this morning and started her up, then de snowed it only to find the central locking has engaged and I'm locked out of her.

No spare key unfortunately, tried removing the rear door but it's not coming off, Dame with drivers door.

Any thoughts?

This has just happened to me while I was dropping my niece off to school. Engine still running, phone left in the car Shocked

Embarassed I was very embarrassed leaving my 90 blocking the road while a friendly parent dropped me back to my house to get the spare set of keys

Its never happened to me before and I'm wondering if the snow/ice has something to do with it?

Not happened to me either and I'm thinking the same thing.

When I unlocked 8t this morning 8t made the noise if the central locking but didn't actually unlock, a few more presses and it opened...I put it down to my brain not registering the unlock until it locked me out

I remember the other week during the bad weather that 8t sometimes locked it self under braking...could be a wiring loom issue perhaps?

most likely the lock barrel was frozen so when it tried to unlock, it couldn't mechanically disengage the lock. My 90 Project : http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic52774.html

Stiffness in the lock mechanism, a very common winter problem with TD5 and Puma Defenders with central locking. Those in the know leave a door ajar when de-icing, just in case.

The solution is to clean and lubricate the locking mechanism. Usually it is the driver's door.

There are several threads on the subject.

If it's a maintenance issue then it'll go on the list of many many more to do
