Great thread - Interesting to see the use of the discovery seats in the rear, as I'm going to use the same in mine. What clasp have you used to lock the seat leg in place to the floor.when the seat it's in use?

The discovery seats were pretty easy to adapt, I had originally intended to move the clasps down to floor height but would have made it far to complicated so instead made the clasp from the bed taller, they don't look very strong but they are and really help the seats from bouncing when there's nobody in the seat, I might add a bit more detail to them at some point

Managed to pick up some new to me wheels and tyres today that seemed to work out better than refurb and new tyres the rims I had already fitted, I've been after a spare for a while but with no where to put it haven't really looked very hard.
Anyway this was a set of 5 so now need to decide where the spare will live? Not keen on wheels on the bonnet, have not long replaced the rear door so don't want to hang it there so that leaves the roof, would I b mad to consider this as the weight up and back down plus carrying so high isn't a good idea? Like the idea of a swing way but we use the rear door lots and not sure how they fair with constant use? Cheers Pic of rims fitted today 👍 Click image to enlarge |

looking neat there! how did you fit the alloys? id have thought if it had drums on the back those wouldn't fit.
you could fit the spare wheel in side if there is room. Some of the vans have them with the mount. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back Success is 90% Inspiration and 4 minutes Preparation # you can make it! |

Have spacers fitted all round, the wheels do fit over the drum without but the centre cap has to be removed to all the axel Greece cover to stick through, also looks very skinny without the spacers as they sit to far back in the arch.
Unfortunately 2 up front 2 kids and a dog in the rear doesn't leave much room inside, think the roof idea is a bit daft so have been looking at carriers for the rear door, what's people thoughts on the heavy duty Masai carrier? |

There has been lots of discussion about various wheel carriers across the forum so a trawl with the search would be a good idea. Basically though, there are a wide variety of types to suit all budgets from stainless steel single pivot ones for over £1k to basic Britpart versions for just over £100, and you'll find somebody who'll swear by their purchase for every one.
There is no reason why any shouldn't be use with a back door that gets used a lot - that's what they're designed for. The version offered by Mantec is widely used and reasonable quality and the versions by Safari Equip get good press and are available in a variety of finishes: http://www.safari-equip.co.uk/index.php/la...rrier.html Darren 110 USW BUILD THREAD - EXPEDITION TRAILER - 200tdi 90 BUILD THREAD - SANKEY TRAILER - IG@landroveranorak "You came in that thing? Cheers Landrover anorak, did a quick google search that threw a few up which is where I found the Masai version, after running a search on here I didn't realise there was so much choice... that one in your link looks pretty heavy duty which is what I'm after and the price seems very reasonable, shame theres not more pics on their site

Hi Mat
did you get your heated seats wired up? If so did you put in defender friendly heat pads and wiring or modify the existing ones? |

What is the bar behind the front seats? A roll bar, or dog guard frame (or both?)
