Great day out yesterday! Weather was really good, but very wet and muddy. Had to use the winch to get out of some deep ruts!

Click image to enlarge 😳 Not a great day! Sector shaft in the steering box sheared completely, total loss of steering. Fortunately it happened manoeuvring into a parking spot at Llandudno dry ski slope and not at 60mph on the A55! If that wasn’t enough the recovery truck got stuck coming up the hill to me and had to be recovered |

Saturday was the first rally of the season for me. Out doing recovery on the Cambrian Rally. With just two jobs to do a straight tow and a 2hr winch job between 3 units. 1999 Defender TD5 110

Yes, they did a great job in fairness, just bad luck the first wagon dropped a wheel off the road on a very steep hill trying to let other cars passed. |

Rhi90 and Bobtail, great looking convoy! But how did you manage to get stuck in Thetford! James

I know, we didn't think it was possible to get stuck there either, but it was very wet and muddy, with quite a few deep ruts. He didn't get stuck until the very last lane, heading towards West Stow in the King's Forest. He was at the front and got beached in very deep ruts

Any excuse to use the winch! I hope you showed him how to do it?!
I hope you didn't do the lane behind the houses in Icklingham, very scratchy! Lead Defender lost his door handle Great day out though. Haha that's Dad! No, we never do that lane - it's far too tight!

Put in a long day and replaced the Td5 lump in mine for another one without a cracked head. Got it all up and running drove it out of the shed and up the road to get home and bang and no drive. You can got through the gearbox without the clutch, difflock, high/low and nothing.
To say I'm a little annoyed would be a bit of an understatement |
