Click image to enlarge Then as my Puma is still getting the brakes and other bits sorted used Hobgoblin this morning for work, got me in safe and normal time down the country lanes (14 miles each way, looking forward to trip back)

OK So I've used the series for a few days now as the Puma was in for Brakes...
Great fun and fun on the roads to work. Even stopping to take some pictures. Click image to enlarge Also having to collect the kids from the after school club in it and take daughter to ballet class in it... Not sure what people must think Look at the smiles though.
Click image to enlarge However after several years of only doing around 300 miles a year and then me doing around 60 miles in 3 days threw up another little issue... the cores from the rad split and water was leaking all over the place, so an interesting drive to Garage where my Puma was so swap cars, I had some spare water and had one eye on the temperature all the way there. In the end it did just fine and the Puma wasn't ready to take so took Hobgoblin to work and swapped on way back. Click image to enlarge Parked up at work and next thing a bloke from a maintenance van is running up to me asking, If I had done it up and he saw it park up and thought I have to see that...

Agreed, very nice looking.
Steps in place and low-slung spare wheel mount on the rear door (so many people move it upwards). However, I didn't know Station Wagons had a spare wheel mounting inside the rear tub, as a spare wheel situated there would foul the two foremost fold-up seats.  |

Hobgoblin back, now with a new Radiator also
so all pipes, rad, coolant, clips, thermostat, water pump changed.
I would like to fit the spare on the bonnet I know this can also be an issue due to weight but think it looks cool , your right though putting it inside seems odd as it would be in the way.
So today I had a little bit of time and wanted to try the wheels I have painted... Still need to fit the other sides so no full on shot yet. Again I know the 600's are original but imho these look so so much better. I cleaned the free wheeling hubs first and surprised how well they came up. Then a few tries later it worked

Looks great. The S3 is the next big thing in classic Landies. Get one while they are affordable!
Just take care with side facing rear seats. Most police are not aware but some are as I believe it's illegal for under 12's to travel in those seats without a 3 point belt and forward facing. Law changed in 2006/7 and that's where the forward facing seats came in. Could be wrong tho 1951 80" S1 2.0 1995 110 300TDI 1995 90 300TDI |

Hello
Have to admit, not sure whats right or wrong? with regard the kids. I have new rear lap belts but the kids are 10 and 7 so would the youngest be better in the front? although the current front belts are pretty useless anyway? Every time we have been out the kids have always been on the back? Can anyone else help? |
