That is just the no 1 place I would NOT use... This place will get the full load of road spray, and your know there are more days raining than dry weather where you live... ![]() I think, as others have suggested, the front of the seatbox is a good place, dry, in reach and short cable run to the battery. Good god man - it doesn't rain in Lancashire!
![]() And of course I don't intend on driving beyond the county boundary.... Yes very good point. Thanks to others for their input. I've seen a bracket made for Anderson connectors that would allow be to mount it 'through' the seat box with only the end poking out in the passenger footwell to annoy SWMBO. I've seen a few mounted underneath the grill/bumper similar to our roadside recovery vehicles but I think that could be vulnerable and the cable run wouldn't be as convenient as the above suggestion. Any other ideas? Keep the coming? |

I'm sure I saw one on here where someone had put one in a GMB Fender Locker. That looked quite smart and accessible. Not the shortest cable run though. 1995 300 Tdi Epsom Green - It's a keeper.

Yes I've seen the GMB Fender Locker installation somewhere - very good.
![]() Prompted by your post, I seem to recall a thread about a recessed panel on the side of the seat base - facing the door. That might be an option for me I think. Can anyone recall the thread/link? |

I put mine on top of the front bumper below the grille. It's connected to the back of the winch.

Thanks for the inspiration and ideas
![]() Phase 1 now completed, with further input from SWMBO. ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge I connected it up without an isolator to check that it all worked, and that the plug on the jump leads mated fully with the in-car plug (as we wouldn't want the high-quality carpet preventing the plugs mating properly ![]() Phase 2 will be to fit the isolator in some form of recessed housing on either the side or front of the passenger seat box. The FCX offering seems like the most likely proposal at the moment. And yes.....the door does close with the connections made.......although in practice that probably isn't necessary. ![]() Thanks again guys ![]() |

Well I've come round to the fact that due to a number of family and work commitments, these days it takes about two weeks to do what is essentially a two hour job
![]() So it's all finished now. The plans evolved as I took on board feedback on and off the forum (thanks guys) and I'm pretty happy with the end result. ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge |

Looks really good, I'll probably copy your idea if I ever get around to it... Like you a 2 hour job I normally allow 2 months for as I only get 10 mins at a time
