I have just had the same problem on my TD5 110. Had a strange creaking noise when parked - it was the nearside rear flap swinging loose having just "munched" about 2 " of lower rear qtr panel off
So, put me down for brackets, re-inforcement & flaps - I might as well do the job properly, as I only want to do it once! 2001 TD5 110 DCPU in Bonatti Grey |

My rear offside broke loose, identical to previous post pictures, sheared at the panel, 110 9 months old 14k miles. Took it to the dealer (assuming) obvious warrantee fix .... to be fair dealer was great but Land rover warrantee said no way, I must have done it ... Lots of photographs and arguing later they sent a regional engineer out to look who agreed it wasn't me, it was a warrantee claim. Ended up with some aluminium welding on the panel and a mod to the bracket fitting a T piece at the end. Couple of months later all sorted now (under warrantee) but was a pain to get done! On my 90 XS the rear mudflaps are bolted into the rear crossmember using rivnuts in the crossmember.
