Oh no, was that when there was a big 'anti 4x4' movement?
Today I've been puzzled... The differences between 3.9 spigots and 4.6 was muchos confusing.. Got there in the end though. Here's a 4.6 flywheel and flex plate.... Looks nice n spangly. Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge |

If I had too much money, I wouldn't be scrawling around the floor in a tiny garage doing it myself

Well, the gearbox is in...
Home tips to fitting a new auto... Use paving blocks under axle stands to get extra height. Roll the gearbox on a creeper under the chassis. Tip up and spew transmission fluid so it puddles to where you're lying. Balance gearbox on 2 plastic Snap-On steps Ratchet strap 2 blocks of wood under gearbox (as Jack won't go high enough) Jack up and trap all fingers and hands against tunnel/floor Struggle with your mate to locate gearbox on dowels Get kicked in the nuts Succeed and bolt up Repeat process with transfer box Dine on bacon and cheese baps All before 11am! Sleep between 130pm and 3 !! Wake up to coffee and cake. Avoid the garage until tomorrow evening. Happy Sunday folks. |

Yes it was, cost a fortune to get it re sprayed Don't make old people mad. We don't like being old in the first place, so it doesn't take much to us off. Richard |

Well, I'm glad that whole movement stopped years back.
In other news, DT Engine Solutions dropped by with this lot today, hopefully it'll be back on the road at the end of the weekend. Spangle Click image to enlarge |

Here's a tip for you builders.....take lots of photos, of any dull thing.
I took this photo when I first stripped the 90 a few years ago, it was just a general photo of the t/box and auto as it came out of the old chassis. When I recently pulled them both out, I pulled off the transfer lever tower and disconnected all of the linkage... Then when I was refitting it, I pulled off more bits as it was in the way when we were mauling fitting it in. The photo has been critical today, as I didn't take much notice of how I pulled it all apart and there is a few ways you can put it back together. Needless to say I guessed it all wrong..... Got my phone out, looked at my '90 reference' album (lots of dull photos in there) and was able get it sorted. Click image to enlarge As the new, uprated auto is 15mm longer than the one I pulled out, I was hoping there may be enough slip in the rear prop for it to fit back on, though it wasn't going to work... So now I have to go get it shortened..... Its second trip to the prop shop!!! I'm hoping the exhaust will be okay, as it meets behind the sump of the auto.... That will cause me a massive headache if it isn't. |
