Don't know about Td5, but the 2007 onward Pumas have an electronic throttle. Many people have to get used to the slight delay of its response when driving off. Maybe that's what you experience. Easy to get used to though, after a bit of time it all feels just natural.
Eric You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation. http://youtu.be/yVRlSsJwD0o https://youtu.be/vmPr3oTHndg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_GtzTT9Pdl0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABqKPz28e6A https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rLZ49Jce_n0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XvAsz_ilQYU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8tMHiX9lSw https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dxwjPuHIV7I https://vimeo.com/201482507 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSixqL0iyHw |

Mine is a 2015. No free play in high range, but slower response in low range.
Sounds like a fault. |

No fault, in low range the ecu changes the throttle sensitivity to avoid kangarooing on the throttle.

Thanks for the replies. Perhaps that’s what it is then... just seems odd compared to normal.

is the high/low stick fully in the high position? It might just need a little shove to correct it. ie. it's resting on the switch and fooling the ECU into thinking it's in low range.
