I believe the anniversary edition was 150bhp. I know they uprated the clutch pack, not sure about anything else though.

IMHO, all Puma Defender engines, 2.2 or 2.4 were 90 KW, except for the Adventure 90 & Autobiography.

During the last series of production the 2.2 PUMA was partially delivered with a 110kW/150HP upgrade, which was basically a remap of the engine with HD clutch. Most of the fuzz about the 150HP came from the leaflet Landrover put in every documentation to be sure it is there if you got one.
The 2.4 PUMA had a, more or less official, 110/111kW 150HP optional upgrade with the same configuration as well, remap plus HD clutch plus HD springs (the reason the 2.2 could be delivered with the same mod). These cars fly a bit under the radar and if you get one, you'll notice as the engine block is a bit different. We had a 103kW Ford Transit some years ago, but I doubt they ever put the 103 officially in the Defender. Never forget: cars have owner, Landrover have field service personnel. |
