Chequer plate - who makes it for LR?
Who makes the anodised chequer plate sill kits / wingtops for Land Rover?

My genuine black anodised kit is looking worse for wear after 3.5 years but I don't want to pay the £600+ Shocked LR want to replace it all genuine BUT I now have the holes and rivnuts in place to align with the genuine parts.

Thanks.

That's a helpful comment. Rolling Eyes It's Martyn's car he can put what he likes on it.

Personally i think wing top's are well worth it, normal wings end up so uneven and dented just from normal servicing. Personally i'm not so keen on the sill covers, but as i said it's Martyn's car.

I too had heard it to be made by mamouth. I think First four's Shadow brand stuff is made by Mamouth too, you can always order some and offer it up, if the holes don't match send it back. Smile The benefits of distance selling regulations, that's if first four couldn't tell you from experience.

Just bought Mammoth black powder coated to replace the ageing anodised ones on mine but not sure whether the current ones were original spec or not... Whistle

Worked on the principle that as long as the new plates cover up any holes from the previous ones then all is good.

Alternatively, remove yours and have them blasted and powder coated. I recently did this. Very reasonable.

^ that's what i did, the powder coater said the process was in two steps and they weren't happy with the finish, but in my opinion they came out a winner - very nice.

I found that without chequer plate on the sills, I rubbed the paint off the sill. Big feet and the newer steps are much too narrow.

I found it's not so much the new side steps are too narrow, but they don't stick out far enough, part of them is actually under the sill! Rolling Eyes

Genuine Parts black chequer plate is anodised, not powder coated. It is (or used to be) manufactured by Breed Group who used to be in Luton and would sell direct but no longer do. I much prefer the anodised stuff and have found that when it starts to look tired it can be refreshed by polishing with black Waxoyl (finally a use for the stuff) used sparingly. Cheers, Guy.
