I want to get some new black side steps mine are currently chrome
There are two types available, the one which I prefer with twin fixings on the top of both upright supports http://tmdtuning.com/shop/tmd-black-side-runners-90110/ Or the set with four fixings. Two fittings on the upright supports plus two cross bars which bolt on to the bottom of both the upright supports with fixings at each end (below) By the way I know the bottom set are for a 110 but they are exactly the same for the 90 https://www.sidesteps.co.uk/shop/side-step...ide-steps/ 2010 Defender 90 HT The longer I live..... How long do these last before rust starts to show? On the tubes or brackets? "You are never to old to learn something new"

Bought some unpainted XS style side bars from MPS trading, unpainted not being normally available. I then prepped these and had them hot dip galvanised. I then painted with black Vinylast paint and fitted the checker plate with stainless screws. Perfect job that will not rust out in a few years as the zink coating is both inside and outside on all surfaces, including all the brackets supplied. "You are never to old to learn something new"

The TMD ones will also have the tubes going back to the chassis, they're just not shown in the pic. The Genuine ones have the tubes back to the chassis, they wouldn't be very strong with out them.

Are the TMD ones just painted mild steel? They are quite pricey. Some of the retailers describe an optional zinc coating prior to powder coating but it's only applied the outside of the main tubes not internally. The 4x4Overlander ones are painted stainless from what I read so they should last. Not sure what grade of stainless though A2 or A4? "You are never to old to learn something new"
