Sorry to hijack the thread
 but when should the fluid be changed? 2016 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 TDV8

It should be enough but get a spare litre. If you dont open it, it will last for a while

Brake fluid will last longer than two years. The problem is it absorbs moisure which can boil if you need to brake hard, which then gives you brake fade. You can test it with a moisture tester, a lot of garages just do that these days rather than routinely replace it. Replacing also flushes out some of the muck in there too mind you, so i tend to change it every couple of years.
It should be enough, but the fluid is cheap enough. You don't need any fancy (expensive) DOT5 stuff either, just normal DOT4 will do, it's all Land Rover recomend. Most brake fluid exceeds DOT4 anyway, that's just the minimum standard they put on the bottle, you'd be hard pushed to find anything that only just met DOT4. |

I once had my fluid at 4 years because I didn't k is it should be two and no one included it in servicing.
I now get it done every two years, I agree on it taking in moisture and when replaced you can ever so slightly tell the difference. ⭐️⭐️God Bless the USA 🇬🇧🇺🇸 ⭐️⭐️ |

Hi Rob369,
May be teaching mother to suck eggs, but if you carefully draw off a lot of the old fluid from the master cylinder with a syringe before pouring in the new, you can get away with using less of the new fluid. ( Yorkshireman speaking with deep pockets and short arms  )
Just make sure you don't draw off too much and allow air into the master cylinder, otherwise bleeding can become more of a task. Changed mine last year when the 110 was 4 years old. Thought it would do the system good to have some fresh fluid pumped through and it was a chance to free off the bleed nipples. |

It's not so much about using less fluid, but it certainly means you're not pushing manky stuff through the system when you don't need to.

FYI garages just flush the first foot or so out of each wheel. The reasoning is that that is the only bit that air can get to. So to do it professionally, you won't need much.

I think the reasoning is more to do with it being cheaper to only spend 10 minutes doing it.
