Anybody have something like this already installed? Aircraft aluminium, Eloxal treated, replacable HD SS bearing with grease channels, and last but not least a permanent attached grease nipple. German made, available from Offroad Monkeys as well as from Matzker, or in Switzerland from Rauh Engineering. Seems a pretty recent new product, found them at the LRoS 30 years Celebration event.

Yes definitely look good. One of the advantages of using the eloxal process is that it allows colours to be added to the electrolyte bath. It would be good if these hinges were available in various colours, either to contrast the vehicle body colour or indeed to match it. Defender 90XS SW

Black is good enough a match for my SVX's Santorini Black. How do I know? Yes, have a set already.
I was able to pay far less as they offered a nice discount at the recent LRoS 30 years Celebration event. When I saw them there I did not hesitate long. Can confirm that in the flesh they look as good as in the pictures. The two boxes with my 8 hinges have arrived, but will be installed early October by the Defender guru by excellence in Uhldingen-MΓΌhlhofen. A 500 km one way drive from here, but it means German quality installation and perfectly aligned doors. Won't be the only thing that will happen to the SVX in Germany that week, but more about that after its all done. It will include the 3rd and last leg of my air flow optimisation, the Airflow Kit II, which will complement the already installed intercooler and SS pipes from the same German supplier. And then some.... Eric You never actually own a Defender. Eric, sounds like you should have brought a Unimog instead of the Defender? 80" 80" 86" 88" 90"

Won't use stainless bolts in these new greasable alu hinges. Many here will know that I'm a strong believer in genuine mild bolts plus copious amounts of Weicon paste. Mild bolts on aluminium electro reaction remains milder than SS on Alu reaction. If such a genuine mild steel bolt would decide to start rusting, the Weicon paste means that at all times it will come out easy to allow replacement by a new one. Have a good supply of all of those genuine bolts, doubt I ever will have to use one though thanks to the Weicon protection. Time will tell. Eric P.S. this here is just for any Swiss members who might be interested in a set. As mentioned in my initial post, there is a Swiss distributor, Rauh Engineering, with competitive CHF prices for these German hinges. No hassle with expensive shipping from Germany and no import duties. Contact Markus Rauh at markus@rough-parts.com You never actually own a Defender. Really like these. The nicest (most OEM) looking hinges on the market I'd say.

The rear door hinges appear to be available in silver or black, but the "side" door hinges only in black. Is that correct, Eric? Thanks

Cheaper route... open door, drill 1.5 or 2mm hole in centre of the hinge and pump in grease with a chainsaw grease gun. You can feel the drill touch the hingepin.
