Popped to see Paul at Patriot in Bedford. Have been meaning to get the 130 rack stripped of its powder coat for a while. I like the colour but it's too impractical dragging tents and gear on and off. Whipped the rack off and then got chatting about a x member mount for my hi lift. 2hrs later and we were now sporting the prototype Patriot mount! The guys are proper legends and willing to engineer anything.

Paul also spotted one of the front light guards was missing a screw head. That was LR's answer to a riv nut that was spinning Evil or Very Mad He decided to drill all 4 of them out which took a while as two were seized. Replaced them with alu riv nuts and bolts.

Lovely people and lovely service.

Did the check levels bit under the bonnet and a bit of odd fettling jobs that needed doing. Put an extra screw through the passenger front door door card to help the central locking actually work, check the red plug, yes a drop of oil there but not swimming in it, not bad for a break of 12 months sinc the last time I looked.
Just a drop of engine oil needed, just got a small leak out of the back of the engine top cover round the half moon bit, some gasket sealant should be on the doormat in the morning to sort that out. Drop of anti-freeze in the coolant bottle, must get a new cap as I think the old one is a little tired. Power steering was fine as was the brake reservoir, then check the clutch reservoir. What a joy that is everytime you go to it. At least I didn't have to resort to the long flat bladed screwdriver to tap the cap round this time. Yes it needed some, out with the homemade funnel fashioned out of a 6pt plastic milk container handle, all going so well untill it came to putting the cap back on the reservoir, dropped the cap and down it went amongst the bracketry underneath the reservoir. 10 minutes of prodding and poking with various long implements before it emerged only for me to drop the frisky little critter again! Second time it went back on with no hassle at all, what a damned fool place to put the thing Evil or Very Mad

I had the wagon pampered and protected over the past few days! Really delighted with the results!

I'm just back from picking it up, and I have to say that Zagato has done a brilliant job.

He used the Dinitrol underbody wax and cavity wax for the chassis (after correcting any rust whilst also doing axles, rear wheel arches, rear cross member etc, door pillars, doors, windscreen base, bulkhead, external fixings, interior) He also treated the bare metal under the body cappings (with ACF-50) etc.

A really methodical and thorough job!

Nope, no before pictures unfortunately (unless Chris had the forethought to take some).

Suffice to say that the chassis was clean, but very dry! The running gear was in a little worse shape, but no major areas of concern.

Found one of the LED spots on my roofrack had suffered from water ingress. The inners of the spotlight were beyond repair so I ordered a new one.

To prevent this happening again, I treated the spotlight seams with 'Captain Tolleys Creeping Crack Cure'.

After 12 hrs drying I repeated the treatment, and then used some self-amalganating rubber tape to finish of.

Time will tell if this treatment will prevent water ingress, but for now it was a nice little job to do.

Really nice and fitted well apart from when i tightened the nut up Rolling Eyes when you turned the wheel it was rubbing on the column cover so a bit of fettleing had to be done, that job sorted, now turns without any rubbing Thumbs Up
The only grumble that i got is that i cant put my centre cap in as it is to big for the hole Shocked and you have to put there centre cap in Crying or Very sad 1996 Golf Blue 300Tdi 110 Pick up.

You can now also get a beautifully engineered locking cap to fit when the wheel is removed, which makes it impossible to turn or remove the boss.
