Genuine, Bosh or Hella in that order.
There are a lot of cheap aftermarket ones about (like everything else) And they can be hit and miss. 80" 80" 86" 88" 90" Wanted, Forward Control Anything considered. |

Bosch is Genuine. 99.9% sure on that, the same goes for the MAP. You may as well sort both out. 👍🏻 $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R

I have a similar set up to yourself and was thinking when mine goes down i would go down the route and the uprated MAF and MAP sensors, Tuners seem to be using these now instead of the boxes the mask the higher pressures and air flow. But I am not sure if IRB do them. Might be worth asking Ian if he does.

I assume since you have a boost box youre running around 22 - 24psi boost? At that power level youre going to have MAF issues regardless of brand. For normal driving around town i leave it plugged in, off road or having fun i unplug it.
Afaik there isnt an uprated MAF unit available but there are "tuning boxes" for the MAF which allow you to adjust the reading it sends back to the ECU. |

Is there no way to completely scrap the MAF on these and run with the MAP sensor, or are the ECU's and any mappers not advanced down that line yet?
I got rid of the MAF on my 99 Mitsubishi Evo and it ran speed density instead on a MAP sensor. Sorry if there is an obvious reason why not, i'm learning |

A td5 runs OK without a MAF
It runs better with a well working MAF and it runs worse with a bad MAF. My experience is that the difference between a bad MAF and No MAF is bigger then the diffeence between No MAF and a Good MAF. I found with the MAF unplugged it smoked a lot, especially off boost.
Fitted the new one today. Just need to take it for a bimble too see how it performs now. |
