Fitted the new starter motor this morning, fortunately the nut of doom/hell was not there so it was off in no time. Most difficult part for me was getting it out. Had to take it out going toward the front, along the front steering bars and then out the front passenger side. Nice to have an endoscope camera to check to see if the nut from hell was there and relieved to see that some poor sucker before me had to get the nut off. Going to look up and see if the one that came off is worth fixing as it sounds like bearings have gone and I have not heard of that make before. Then again I have not heard of the make of the one I have just put on. But it was in stock on the shelf at euro car parts. Make is RTX.

Full B service today with gearbox oil thrown in for good measure. Had the 2.2 110 for nearly twelve months and 12000 miles so it was due. The book is fully dealer stamped and it now has just shy of 48000 on it. However from the oils dropped today it looks like I am the first into the diffs and the first to show the shafts a grease gun so what else hasn't been done at dealership services? Just handbrake to adjust and fuel filter to swap tomorrow. I am now happy that the oils are now spot on thanks to a full compliment of millers from opie
