Levelling 110's Rear End
I have a 110 DCPU, the rear end of which is noticeably higher than the front. The rear ride quality is also hard and crashy (without load) so I would like to change the rear springs for something softer and lower.

I have read of people using 90 rear springs on the front but as my front end ride quality is fine and I don’t want ‘lift’ I don’t really want to go down this route.

After extensive research I have tied myself in a knot. There is so much conflicting information out there that I now have no idea what is what!

I have the brown/purple USW 110 Utility RKB101111 springs at the rear and read that it is as simple as changing to white/green/green CSW 110 7 Seat RKB500300 but apparently while these are softer, they are also longer which results in the same ride height/occasionally a higher rear end?!

Here is a photo of my current situation, if anybody is able to recommend springs to level out the rear it would be really appreciated

Carry a couple of bags of sand in the back?

My father used to keep a paving slab in the back of his MGB which massively helped with traction in the winter time. Rolling Eyes Ed

How often do you carry weight in the back? If not regularly you could swap over to some softer springs or as a compromise I think you should be able to fit some progressive springs from a 110 CSW which will be more supple yet offer stiffer springs the lower down they get. Ed

Not sure on the Tdci but on my old 300tdi 110 county springs were softer than utility springs and I did the opposite as I always had tools and kit in the rear of my station wagon and the rear sagged.

I know what you mean, I added a spare wheel and boot lid, made it much less crashy. Though remember if you put softer springs in the rear when you do carry load it'll drop it down more

I rarely carry load and when I do it's not particularly weighty. If I have anything serious to haul I use a twin axle trailer with a low(ish) nose weight.

I had wheels fitted this weekend so had four boost alloys and tyres in the back and the ride was so nice and comfortable and almost level.

Wondering whether to swap for the white/green/green CSW 110 7 Seat RKB500300 springs. Although these are slightly longer they are also lower rated so perhaps they will compress more and consequently drop the ride height a bit?

I would have thought the DC is lighter at the back so putting CSW springs (although possibly more comfortable) would likely increase the rear height. Think about it - you've got less bodywork and no rear seats in there so unlikely to compress the springs any further. Ed

Nick, I need to take some measurements of the current spring and confirm to coilsprings.co.uk that it definitely has the purple/brown springs fitted (think it does but the brown I saw may have been mud Mr. Green)

Will post fitted photos when done. There's a five week lead time so will be a little while
