Washer jets & Bosch Aero wipers.
Okay, so today I replaced my old el' cheapo blue washer fluid for a better one. (Motul Apple stuff)

First I had to get rid of the old, rather than trying to run it through and possibly overheating the washer pump I symphoned it all out but still left some in the pipes.
I got a container and about 4ft of clean but old hose pipe, filled the pipe with water and put my finger over one end to keep it in.
Got to the 90 and put the end of the pipe my finger wasn't in in the container and the other end very quickly took my finger off and stuck it in the washer bottle.
It syphoned and emptied the lot there and then. Mr. Green

Anyway, that little tio and idea aside, I went to proceed on spraying out the old stuff so the new came through. (Best not to mix or leave it.)
All good, front all fine all good! It's a good wash I could tell straight away it cleaned the screen better and is nasty free such as Methanol which is no good to rubber.

Only one issue though, my reason for posting!
The rear washer of the two jets only one sprays and the other just a drip or two if that.
Fiddled with it with a sewing needle etc but no joy, it seems clog free but still no go.
Seems one nozzle is slightly corroded but seems free but I suppose it's only going to flow the path of least resistance.

As its only a small item, I assmume it won't break the bank a new one!?! (Does anyone have a brand new one at all?)
Rather than messing about, does anyone know how to remove it properly?
I thought on here you just pull them off towards you with no problem but I wouldn't risk that fist in case there is a fixing or nut behind?
If it does just pull off, I assume the pipe on it is just attached to the rear?

Bit of an odd issue, always been slightly lie, it but worse now...
Perhaps just a duff washer from the beginning but where the screen should have a 2 nozzle jet basically there is only one.

LR061678 is what you need, dependant on what internal trim you have it's simply a case of getting to the fitting, pulling off the hose from the inside and unscrewing the nut, a deep socket will make it easier. Ours sprays with one jet, two or none depending how it's feeling, as you said it's a path of least resistance thing IMHO.

Thank-you for the P/N.
Looking casually on eBay earlier they do indeed seem to have a nut at the rear on the inside.
At least this one is the rear and not the front so access isn't too bad.

I'd imagine the flow design should be exactly 50/50 but the slightest narrowing or blockage from one get and it'll go 90/10 instead or similar.
I'll see if I change it and see if that does the trick.

Good excuse to replace the wipers too.. Mr. Green

If you do get it off, might be worth giving it a soak in a glass of warm water over night as they can get blocked with limescale as such. I had a Honda who's rear jet used to do this every 6 months, although it was an upward pointing jet (great design). Worth a go anyway and might save you a few pennies.

Has anyone uprated the washers to actually spurt onto the windscreen with a decent jet of water rather than the half hearted piddle which is the norm?

Defender9 - I think someone in the past on here fitted a pair in the bonnet IIRC and did the pipe work too.

It worked well I think but there is lots of very careful measurement to do and precision and for very little advantage.

I've just bought some Bosch Aero AR13U wipers 3x ready for autumn later on.
Just an upgrade really. £22.37 all in for all three.

My original standard Bosch ones are still in perfect nick, if anyone wants them FOC or for small forum donation let me know once swapped.

Waiting to hear from Dan @ Duckworth regarding the rear jet...

Hopefully once I've got the jet sorted and wipers that'll be that and I've already done the washer fluid.
Then it'll be down to D44 for a full service this month and MOT in October.
£600 or more all this this month. Shocked Big Cry Shocked Mr. Green

You can get descaler in Waitrose or other stores for 99p too for kettles etc.
I honestly don't think that is the issue in my case though, a good wash mix should prohibit that.
(Think it's citric acid I believe)

Of course many people chuck all sorts of rubbish in their's, debris from bottles different mixtures etc.
That's why I drained the old stuff I had as best I could and replaced with new, ran the bit of old through the pipes that was present.
I guess you could use deionised water, which would probably best to mix with but in that case it is going a bit OCD for screen wash. Rolling with laughter

I generally buy the ready mixed screen wash, but when I've used the concentrated stuff I use the water from a condensing clothes dryer, thats pretty much distilled water and keeps the system clean, I've also used it for coolant top-up occasionally.

As for the jets, I replaced my rear one recently, it was really not worth messing around with it for the sake of about 4 quid.

You'd be surprised how many vehicles that have literally been off the line a matter of hours and wind up blocked from a small lump of gunk that forms in the washer bottle and happened to get sucked through, tracing back the blockages in a fully built car can be really fun! Rolling Eyes

Well I got the washer jet, due to come from Dan. Wasn't as expensive as I expected with LR's modern pricing.
These arrived today, Martin has them too I believe.

I'd be interested to know if the different wipers make any difference.

My windscreen washers put loads of fluid on the windscreen and are good at cleaning off fresh bugs but if I don't notice a bug when it dies I end up with a windscreen covered in baked on smeared dead bug. The wipers are great when it's raining and don't smear or miss bits, but they can't really clear smeared bug either!

I've noticed this week or so since changing screen wash brand that it makes a big difference, more so than the wipers.
