Having recently ripped out the manky carpet that had been glued in place by the previous owner and just picked up a front head lining for a bargain price, my thoughts have turned to insulating the roof. I've got some big sheets of self-adhesive closed cell foam to stick up but I'm not sure if it's worth fitting a sound absorber, too? Since removing the carpet, the roof has a distinct 'bong' when closing the door, but will this be resolved with just CCF and a headlining?
What's the consensus? (Incidently, I've got a box of Silentcoat to hand but it didn't sound (ha!) as slick in the title) Darren 110 USW BUILD THREAD - EXPEDITION TRAILER - 200tdi 90 BUILD THREAD - SANKEY TRAILER - IG@landroveranorak "You came in that thing? I wouldn't bother if you're going to put up foam and the headlining. I would concentrate on the floor and bonnet?

I’m going to dynamat mine when the headlining is down. My thinking is it WILL help in some way- (especially after finding the difference in doing the front of my car) and I won’t want to take the headlining down again in the future to dynamat it. Hello
I've done other bits of my car and its made a huge difference, As your headlining is off and you have a box 'spare' its a no brainier I would do it. I will do mine at some point but I hear its quite awkward removing the headlining in a 110 As other have said it will probably also keep it cooler in summer and warmer in winter |

Thanks, all. A bit of a mixed bag on the responses so I suspect I'll stick some Silentcoat in the middle of the panels whilst I've got the chance. Darren

If you have the lining off anyway, I'd stick as much as you can up there. It does make a huge difference so why not do it?

I did mine with dynamats lighter version and it does take out a lot or noise, you also get that nice solid sound when you knock on the roof Russell
