Headlight Issue

Hi All

Over the past few days I have developed a headlight issue.

When I start the car and turn the headlights on the come on and may (or may not) go off and come back on a few times. This morning they went off again when driving down the road. A quick flick of the switch on and off gets everything back on again.

Once they have been on for a while or the car running for a while they seem OK (or I juts haven't noticed they have gone off given how bad they are anyway).

If I just have sidelights on all is OK. I dont think it could be but I should add that I have a faulty fog lamp switch which causes the foglamp to flicker over bumpy road (which will be replaced this weekend).

Almost certainly the switch on its' way out. As they take the full load of the lights, they have a habit of melting the contacts.

A brief search for headlight switch or similar will show it's a well worn path. Darren

I'd second that but I'll add, when you're replacing the switch, give a second thought to adding a relay circuit to the headlights like a Boomslang Loom or similar, it means then that the switch is only passing enough current to drive the relay coils and you also get more power to the lights themselves.

Brighter headlights on a Defender are never a bad thing.
