25, 50 and 300 are the standard here(military support) In 2017 will begin doing a bit of dynamic shooting too |

Well I'm lucky to be 10 minutes from Bisley but also had the misfortune of dealing with the NRA as well..
Mind you I had a friend whose warm up and sighters started at a mile. Personally find target shooting a bit mundane, learnt on shotguns and find with rifles its got to be moving or I get to eat it afterwards Ed 82 Hotspur Sandringham 6x6 95 Defender 110 300Tdi |

Unlikely I appreciate but I'm looking for a pup to fill the gap and keep the other dog company. Black lab bitch, good working lines and not a small / fine whippet.

Huttopia - do you have a black currently or are looking for one? I've got 8 yellow / white pups, currently 11 days old. Four of each but I'm keeping one of the bitches.
Fantastic working lines originally, we've got 4 generations now in the family and all have been cracking working dogs although we have bred in some bits of show line because we liked the dogs more than anything. Click image to enlarge Ed 82 Hotspur Sandringham 6x6 95 Defender 110 300Tdi |

Wrong picture Lyra looks, and is knackered in that photo. Here's a better one of the pups.

You've got another shooting fanatic down here in Devon. Been shooting with a shotgun since I was 5 or 6; my dad never eased me in gently, straight on the 12bore. Spent alot of my summer evenings out blasting bunnies for the pot. Only been shooting rifles for about 5 or 6 years. Use .17hmr .22lr .243 for things on the ground and a winchester sx3 for vermin in the air.
Spent a month in the states last year and did a bit of pistol shooting, .22 .32 acp .45 and .50 and had great fun; such a shame we cant have licenced pistols over here as it's great sport. Got a working lab whose 5 this year. Cracking dog, beats and retrieves brilliantly. Want a pup from her this year really. I've recently been browsing DB.410s as I've got an 8 week old son. Mrs says it's a bit premature but I disagree. Chris Chris 2009 2.4TDCi XS Utility Wagon. Last edited by ChrisWoods on 6th Jan 2017 2:52pm. Edited 3 times in total |

Hi Flydrive, quickie for you, I'm waiting for my licence and ultimately want to get back into some long range shooting. As you mention, 300m seems to be the max round here. There's a place near me on the French side, but membership is full and it's a pretty basic set up. I understand there's a good range near Geneva, similar distance to the first, but better quality. Is there anyway I could use the range? Do I have to be Swiss? My Aunt, Uncle and Cousins are all Geneva based Swiss nationals so would they be of help. I'm led to believe you can be issued a pass to travel across the border with a rifle/pistol, so this would be more about usage than storage. Although full membership with storage would be great. Indeed, could I get a Swiss licence as well? Any thoughts welcomed Monsieur Le Grenadier I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list..... 2011 Puma 110DC - Corris Grey |

Hi Grenadier,
I think there should not be a problem for you to use the range, you will probably have to be a member of the club at the range. You do not have to be Swiss. Normally it works this way for a foreigner to join a club: - You fill out the membership request for with the club, you will have to submit a "Proof of good standing/no problems with the law" or whatever is called. - The club then ask permission to the military and police authorities. If everything is ok then you will be allowed to join and use the range. I live in a different canton, so there might be some different procedures, your best bet is to contact the club/range directly and ask. Yes you are normally able to get issued a pass to travel across the border, but probably easier and less trouble to park your gun at the range, if they have the facility or maybe at your Swiss relatives house. In Switzerland we do not really have a licence to own guns, basically there are 3 different status. - Just gun owner/shooter: Just need a permit to buy. Some restrictions on the type of guns( no fully automatic rifles etc.). Can buy ammunition(no real amount limitations). Can transport the gun between home and range and back. - Collector: Can more or less buy any type of gun. Not sure about ammunition. Not sure about other restrictions - Carry permit: Difficult to obtain, have to have a need. |

My lab gundog was from Sealpin Gundogs, can recommend them. Sadly we lost our 15 year old from them last year and getting another pup later this year from them. Still the same family owners and very impressive facilities, training and even DVD training. |
